Boy crushed to death during immersion

A six-year-old boy was crushed to death in an immersion procession at a village in Kalna Friday night.

Soumyajit Das, the victim, was crushed under the wheels of the mini-truck that was carrying the Durga idol at Dhitpur village in Purbasthali block of Kalna. The vehicle suddenly started rolling backwards and Das was frolicking with some others just behind the loaded van.

The puja committee members though had shifted the boy to the local block hospital, he was referred to the Kalna Superspecialty Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds shortly.
